I've looked at Victory jackets in the past, but have been put-off because they run extremely small, had no armor, and have been difficult to find. The 2013 offerings are much improved; more styles, higher quality, better sizing, and dealers are finally stocking them.

I'm an athletic guy; 44" chest, 34" waist. I find that while american-cut jackets fit well in the shoulders, they are overly generous in the midsection and rarely sit well on my frame. European-cut jackets are akin to athletic cut suit-jackets & shirts: slimmer in the midsection while accommodating wider shoulders and larger chests.

The attitude jacket is certainly in line with a european/athletic cut. I wear a medium in all other (athletically cut) motorcycle jackets, and I wear a medium in the Victory attitude. If your carrying extra in the middle, I suppose you could just go up a few sizes - but an american cut jacket is going to be a better alternative.

As far as the jacket itself: The quality of the leather is good, with a thickness that feels protective without being stiff. At this price point - I'm dissapointed with the zippers; they are ykk but instead of rubberized "locking" grips... you get simple metal pulls. The liner is warm and looks sharp on it's own (though again, it's athletically cut and snug around the waist/belly; you've been warned). The 3M logo on the back looks fantastic - subtly dark during the day, with the outline of the large "V" as well the area surrounding the word "Victory" creating a generous reflective target for headlights at night. Unfortunately, this is the only reflective point on the jacket - as the arm logos are non 3M cloth patches. While I applaud the inclusion of Knox shoulder and elbow armor, I'm baffled that there is no pocket for a CE rated back protector. Seriously Victory - it's your responsability to enable all options for rider protection, and you really missed the mark on this one! I have no idea why there are two zippers at the wrists, since the perforated leather behind the cuff would allow minimal airflow if exposed. With the liner in, the wrists are pretty snug - though thankfully the neck remains comfortable. I did not have to go up a size in order to wear the jacket with the liner.

Credit where it's due: it performs seamlessly as I ride. The collar doesn't chafe during head-checks; the shoulders don't bunch up when I reach for the handlebars. Riding in 42 degrees, there is little wind penetration (something many non-touring jackts fail at), and the liner does an admirable job retaining heat. I look forward to seeing how the 7-zipper ventilation system operates on warmer rides. I appreciate the way that the jacket stays out of my way by fitting well and allowing for unrestricted movement.

I tried on the "brand" and "classic" Victory jackets at the time of purchase, and though the "attitude" was certainly the best of the lot, I can't help but think that Victory priced it $100 too high - given it's shortcomings (non rubberized "locking" zipper-pulls, missing back protecter pocket, no 3M reflectivity on the front/sides).

If it fits your body-type, and you can handle a few misgivings along with the hefty price tag, it's the best men's jacket Victory has put out yet.
