Product Description
Folding Aluminum Ramp Made in the USA Model # 740MCDR *Photos depict loading onto a trailer 21" high* This ramp is specially designed for loading motorcycles onto trailers. Eliminate the worry of safely loading your motorcycle. The ramp is 6' 10" long by 40 inches wide (folds to 20 inches wide), giving you plenty of room to ride up the ramp while safely planting your feet. Most ATV ramps are rated for four wheel distribution and will fail under the weight of the largest cruisers riding up the middle of the ramp. Whereas this ramp handles the center weight and delivers under the most extreme circumstances! Notice the extra center supports built into this high quality ramp. This ramp comes complete with two cam buckle tie down straps to safely secure the ramp to the trailer (please see photo above). For large cruisers, this ramp works well when loading onto surfaces up to 26" high. For trailer surfaces lower than 18" the shorter 6 ft. ramp is adequate. (The 6' version can be found in our Amazon storefront by clicking our company logo). We are one of the largest aluminum ramp distributors in the country, and we are committed to offering the consumer quality products at a fair price. This ramp can be shipped via UPS.Aluminum Ramp 7 ft. - Motorcycles Onto Trailers - Ramps Review
I purchased this ramp to load (ride) my motorcycle onto my long-bed pickup. The bike plus my weight is approximately 850 pounds. Most ramps of a similar design often advertise a rating of 1000-1500 pounds. In reality, however, the rating assumes that the weight is evenly distributed across the entire ramp, especially applicable to four-wheeled vehicles (ATVs, e.g.). Many popular motorcycles (baggers, e.g.) with rider can approach 1000 pounds - and CANNOT utilize a ramp designed for weight distribution over a wide area. This seven-foot ramp is specifically designed for heavy motorcycles such that each section is reinforced to be able to withstand 1200 pounds, independently, distributed over two wheels, while allowing for plenty of additional width for foot support, as needed, while riding up the ramp. Although advertised to be able to be ridden up to a 26-inch high loading surface, that might prove daunting for some. My pickup is lowered such that the tail gate is 24 inches off the ground; any higher than that would give me pause to consider making out a will - but that's just me.
Notwithstanding its length and reinforcement, the ramp folds in half, widthwise to 22 inches, and weighs only around 40 pounds so it is easy for one person to load and unload; its folded thickness is narrow enough to fit between the bike and pickup wheel wells. Finally, I shopped around for similar ramps, which are available, but at a substantially higher cost. For me, this ramp is a sturdy, safe, and very reasonably priced item worthy of consideration.
