I purchased a Shoei RF-1100 which comes with a clear polycarbonate visor, but I opted to purchase an additional dark smoke visor for riding in daylight. The visor removal/replacement system is SUPERB. Just pull down the 2 tabs and the visor will pop out. Installation simply requires placing the visor near the tabs in the right spot, and gently compressing both sides to lock it in place! I purchased my RF-1100 and visor from Sportbike Track Gear in Shelby Township, MI (went there to try it on and buy it) and the salesperson even said the Arai visor system was a pain to use. I looked at AGV helmets, Bell, Scorpion, Arai, Shoei, and simply felt the Shoei was the best there was.The dark smoke visor isn't as dark as Oakley's Black Iridium lenses, and is actually a tad brighter than Oakley's dark grey (non-mirror finish). I'd say the light transmission might be more around 18-20% but worked great for mid-noon sun in the summer. Other riders commented the mirror/iridium visors weren't as durable because the shiny coating is a layer on the outside which is subject to scratches and impacts from bugs and rocks. The dark smoke is supposed to be more durable and I have no complaints. The optical clarity is excellent with no distortion due to the curvature.
Overall: 5/5 stars, high quality construction, easy to remove/install, distortion-free optics, and the best way to ride in daylight without wearing sunglasses.
