Ancra Big Bike Tie down is gradual release system built into the ratchet that enables the user to back the ratchet off one click at a time. This feature is great for leveling the bike on a trailer or reducing the compression on the front shocks without having to release all of the webbing and re-tighten. It also eliminates the exploding ratchet that pops open forcefully under load.

Ancra 49970-222 Red Big Bike Tie Down Review

I have been riding and racing motorcycles since I was 7 years old, 31 years. When I was a teenager, I discovered Ancra straps, the original cambuckle tie down. Since then, tons of other brands and types have come out and I have owned most of them, some good and some are total junk. I have probably 30 Cam buckle type straps that I use in trucks, trailers, motorcycle lift tables, motorcycle jacks, at work hauling cargo, etc. This product, thier "Big Red Bike Tie Down" is a ratchet type strap, is fairly short which is great because you do not have a ton of extra strap to tie up, and are very heavy duty in a relatively small package. If you value whatever it is you are strapping down, ANCRA is the ONLY brand to use.

These Big Red Ratchet Straps are awesome. I originally bought these just to have a short set of ratchet straps available in my trailer for whatever. But I haul a Polaris Rzr 900XP 4 on a flat trailer a lot these days and was using a pair of these in the back to ratchet down, and a set of "cheap" ratchet straps in the front. It was actually a pain using the cheap, and long, other brand straps in the front because they just didn't feel as secure, and I had a ton of extra strap I had to wrap and tie up which took time every time I loaded the machine. So one day I am driving down the road and I feel and hear a "Boom". I slowed down, pulled over and looked around but did not see anything. When I got to the sand dunes and was unloading, I saw that the entire center of the cheap ratchet had blown out and the front of the Rzr was no longer secured in the front. I ordered a second set of these Ancra straps immediately and now I feel safe and secure, and I load faster. It is great of have a set of 4 of these around for everything I need. An investment that will serve you for years and years to come.

Again, these are fairly short - about 5 feet compared to longer cargo ratchet straps. They are "BIG BIKE" straps, not 20 foot long cargo straps, which for motorsports is awesome and exactly what you need, but if you are looking for the catch all 20 foot cargo strap, try something else. They are tough, strong and a quality product as I would expect from Ancra.

As I understand it, back in the day, Ancra came out with their first cambuckle straps to hold down small aircraft on the tarmac to keep them from blowing away in high winds. Being for the aircraft industry and holding down very expensive equipment in a small strap - they were obviously an awesome product. Then the motorsports industry discovered them and everything else that you ever used to secure a motorcycle became obsolete. Ancra is the one and only strap. And, they are no more expensive than any other strap you can buy. If the straps you are going to buy seem very inexpensive, think about it. Think about what you are trying to secure with that strap, think about what would happen if the strap broke as it did in my case when I did not use an ancra. Just buy the best and be done with it. You'll be glad you did.
