I've had this helmet (white/small) for a few months now and I enjoy it. This is my first HJC helmet and I must say that this is a great first impression. This helmet was designed for race use (can be seen on MotoGP racer Ben Spies); but I've found that it works very well on the streets/roads, even outside of the tuck and 3/4 riding position. The new dial controlled vents on top allow you to adjust exactly how much air you want in. At its most-open position, the vents allow phenomenal airflow. However, because of the amazing airflow there is a bit of wind noise. It is not unbearable but it is noticeable and could become annoying depending on the person. I usually don't mind it.
I love the fit. Since it is designed to be a race helmet, its fit is very snug. This helps me to feel much more secure. It is somewhat tighter than other helmets specifically manufactured for street use. Depending on the person, this could be a good or bad thing. Being a small person--110 lbs, 5'3"--it's usually a pain to find a helmet that doesn't make me look like an alien--large headed. This model offers more shell sizes which reduces the fishbowl look that many 2-shell-sized helmets cause, so the helmet is closer to the riders actual head size. I believe that this helmet fits mostly intermediate-oval to round-oval head shapes.
The pads are very soft and comfortable for long rides. The padding at the forehead is a bit thin but not uncomfortable. The pads are made of antibacterial material and are moisture wicking. All pads are removable for cleaning.
The RPS-10 is extremely lightweight. So much so it is almost like wearing nothing. Personally, while holding it in my hand I was unable to feel a difference from any other helmet, but it was evident when I put it on. I sometimes have problems with helmets, especially new ones, because they give me neck pains when worn more than 30 minutes. This helmet has not caused such problems.
A few, non-major cons:
*It is best to avoid rainy conditions when riding with this helmet. The rear exhaust vents do not close, allowing rain to enter the helmet and soak the pads and, sooner or later, your head.
*I've found that the only way to receive satisfactory airflow through the chin/mouth vent is to have my head tilted slightly forward almost as it would be if I were tucked.
*The faceshield tends to fog heavily, especially during colder months. To remedy this, I use the pinlock shield insert which was included with my helmet. Not so much a "con" but more of a precaution.
I love my HJC RPS-10. If I had to purchase another helmet for whatever reason I would come back to this model without hesitation.
