BiLT Speed Leather Motorcycle Gloves - 4XL, Black Review

I live in southern California so I can't tell you what they'd be like in colder parts of the U.S. Here 40 is the minimum temp during winter. Wore them the other night in 55 degree weather and thought they were a little too warm. There's no liner, just the leather itself. They feel supple, I get good movement from them. I'm someone that rarely complains, if it works, good enough. And if it doesn't then fix it, so it does work. I'm going to try and describe as much as possible about this item. If I had to buy these again, I would spend a little more and have bought the ones with metal knuckle and finger protectors, or at least something harder than these. That would pretty much my only real issue with these gloves.
Pros.
Leather looks durable, not thick, not thin, more like medium/thin but more towards medium
Fit is true. I wear a large, and a large fit me. The right hand was kind of hard to get into. The left fit perfect. Had to wear the right glove around the house and make a fist to stretch it out some. Now it fits fine.

Cons
The biggest con was the plastic on the fingers. Its not hard plastic, its soft, and flexible. Those two bumps on each finger are harder than the rubber on rubber duckies, but not sure how much more. They're shiny, but you can easily squeeze them out of shape by pinching them. That was the biggest disappointment. I bought them expecting hard plastic, at least that but its not. I've been in a big crash, but I doubt that flexible rubber/ plastic piece would do much. I really had thought that it would have been harden plastic.

In another review, someone mentioned the plastic part of the knuckles being uncomfortable. And that would be an under statement. They dug so hard while riding that I took them off, and didn't wear them. When i got home I checked my hands, and the plastic had worn through my skin. My knuckles were raw/ sore for days. But problem was fixed. Grabbed some thick material, turned the gloves inside out, and sewed on more padding, Now I don't feel anything. Simple enough fix, but it took some time.

I could feel all of the stitching. Just turned the parts inside out that were bothering me, and with metal cutting shears, I cut the extra leather off. Problem solved, but be careful not to cut too much off. It had to be done, because where multiple layers of leather come together, they form this really hard nub. That digs into your skin.

So over all I'm 70% confident these would protect me in a crash. The leather is fine, just the plastic parts aren't. I won't get road rash, but the point of the plastic was to protect me in case there were hard object on the road. So if I were to crash with these my hands would be bruised more than if I had a pair of gloves with at least hardened plastics. I'm a safe rider, been riding for 5 years. And hope I never have to find out how durable these gloves are. I would recommend that if your a more aggressive rider, that you buy something more expensive, or at least something tougher. Over all they seem fine.

Dinged one star for the plastics on the fingers, And dinged another for the knuckle plastics digging into my skin and me having to spend time on fixing them. Hope this helps
