First Gear Onyx Expandable Magnetic Tank Bag For Harley-Davidson Review

I ride a 1300 cc bagger and don't often use a tank bag. I bought this First Gear Expandable bag in preparation for some long distance touring after reading dozens of articles which lead me to believe that, unless you're riding a full dresser, a tank bag is a must have item.
After lots of research my short-list was down to this bag and the Rapid Transit Recon 19. The feature which tilted the scales for me is the First Gear's functionally sized map pocket. It'll fit an actual sheet of paper (maybe cut down to 8 x 10) or an iPad (and the plastic window is made of a material through which the iPads touch screen can be used). I'm "old school" about wanting directions in front of me (GPS is great but....) and the other bag's map pocket is sized for recipe cards - not maps. That being said, if it's alot of individual pockets you're after, and you want a stylish looking bag, this one isn't for you. The two pockets on the outside are what you get besides the large interior compartment and a zip mesh pocket there-in. And while this bag holds a ton of stuff, it holds most of it in the same, suitcase shaped, main compartment.
The bag is held stays securely in place by its nagnetic "wings" and the wings have a non-scratch rubberized coating. The bag will unzip from the magnetic base which has its own map pocket. So if a map pocket is all you want you can leave the bag home. In its unexpanded size the bag is plenty roomy to hold everything you might like to have at hand while underway - and more. In its expanded size the bag is downright big; bigger in fact than I'd probably want on my tank in front of me but none-the-less a good size for those occasions where you need to carry more than you'd anticipated. The bag seems well constructed and has large zipper pulls which work well with gloves on.
The only thing that kept me from giving this product 5 stars is the small amount of individual zipper pockets. I imagine the need to fashion some sort of partition to use on the bag's interior so as to keep it from becoming a place into which items tend to vanish.

Tourmaster Mens Centurion 1 Piece Motorcycle Suit Black/Black Large L Review

I wish I had gotten this Tourmaster Centurion long ago. I would have had so much more time on my motorcycle in comfort during the winter and rain. The quality of this suit is without question once you pull it out of the box. You put it on and know that this is a piece of equipment more than just a good looking suit. Now I consider it almost as important as my helmet, with the safety features it incorporates. The comfort and protection it offers it is easier to focus on the road and the ride more than just getting their as quick as possible to survive the elements. I am 72' tall and 190lbs and a Large fits great. We ride up in the Corolina's and camp during the winter, can't imagine doing it without the Tourmaster suit. I would highly recommend this suit. Be safe out on the road.

RK Racing Chain 4067-949S Steel Rear Sprocket and 520XSO Chain 520 Steel Conversion Kit Review

First off, I had no trouble fitting this on a 2003 Yamaha YZF600r (not the R6!), so there should be no issues with any YZF600r (or Thundercat outside the US) from 1997-2007 since the model was unchanged during those years.

This kit works, but its worth noting that this is not a stock replacement set of chains and sprockets. The chain is a 520 (stock is 530) and the front sprocket is a 14 tooth (stock is 15).

What does this mean? The 520 chain is lighter (therefore, ostensibly weaker) than stock, while the changes to the gearing will make the bike feel like it accerlerates faster at the expense of fuel mileage(since the engine will be reving higher at lower speeds thanks to the gearing change by having a smaller front sprocket) and potential top speed (which no one will ever legally need on public highways).

In practice and on the road, the gearing changes are subtle, yet noticeable. While the bike feels slightly "peppier" at town speeds, the increased engine revs at highway speeds are noticeable, and the attendant increase in vibration as a result is noticeable, as well as the loss of fuel efficiency that accompanies higher engine RPMs.

Bottom line, I purchased this chain and sprocket kit because it was significantly cheaper than the stock replacements, and at my old chain had been developing tight spots that made it sound like a choo-choo train. Not sure I'm happy with the gearing changes or the lighter chain, but if someone doesn't mind the inherent sacrifices to longevity and fuel mileage for a bit of a low end boost, this chain is a cheap alternative to stock chain/ sprocket replacements.
